Sea Sounds – a musical portrait

Munor’s pianist Marina Johansson presents a musical portrait of the Swedish Utsira composer Lennart Lundberg.

The Swedish pianist and compost Lennart Lundberg (1863–1931) was not only a brilliant pianist and former pupil of Chopin’s favourite students Camille Dubois and Ignaz Paderewski, but also a real Utsira fan! He enjoyed being among the island’s folk and he liked its land- and seascape, which from 1903 year after year provided inspiration for his compositions. In addition, his works were also inspired by Chopin and his own years in Paris. Unfortunately, Lundberg’s music has been forgotten. This concert gives a taste of the elegant and dramatic piano pieces that came to life on sea-swept Utsira.
